There was a big confrontation at Nicki Minaj‘s house in Hollywood moments ago … and it got so bad the cops came … TMZ has learned.
Here’s the backstory. Law enforcement tells us, a couple of weeks ago, Nicki’s maid took a photo of the singer out of the trash and then asked Nicki to sign it. Nicki got pissed and fired her.
Cops tell us, the maid did come back today, and Nicki became enraged and ordered her to leave. A source privy to the fight tells TMZ, the maid stood her ground, demanding not to be “treated like an animal” — at which point, Nicki allegedly said, “I’ll show you how to treat someone like an animal … get the f**k out of my house!”
Now here’s where the stories are a bit conflicting. One source says — contrary to what the cops say – Nicki actually made a mistake, saw another maid and assumed she was the one Nicki had fired.

FOR one reason or another some of our entertainers have issues when it comes to staying on the right side of the law. For some, it is viewed as a case of art imitating life, based on their sometimes violent lyrical content. While, others see it as a case of a citizen, like any other crossing the line of the law.
Issues of entertainers and the law have been brought into sharp focus this week following the highly publicised arrest of controversial deejay, Vybz Kartel on a number of charges. The deejay, who is also known as the Teacha, is now facing charges ranging from conspiracy to murder to murder and illegal possession of firearm. Kartel remains in a Corporate Area lock-up
Vybz Kartel is not the only Jamaican artiste facing murder charges. After two years the don gorgon Ninjaman is clueless as to his trial date, but that whole scenario is being played out because, despite his One Umbrella Movement preaching peace, he was fingered in the murder of Ricardo Johnson in the 2009 shooting incident along Marl Road in Kingston.

Pop star Rihanna has shot straight to the top of the charts with her new single We Found Love, according the Official UK Charts Company.
The Barbadian, who collaborated with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris on the track, ruffled feathers last week with her topless prancing as she shot the music video for the song. It is Rihanna’s sixth No1 single.
Farmer Alan Graham, 61, pulled up in his tractor and told the sexy singer to cover up while on his land near Bangor, Co Down, in Northern Ireland.
The filming was taking place in a muddy barley field close to a busy dual carriageway when she stripped to a bikini after removing a long checked dress. But the sight became too much for Mr Graham’s Christian beliefs and he politely asked the filming to stop.
Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera’s Moves Like Jagger took second spot in the singles chart while Spanish DJ Sak Noel slipped to number three.

Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has been charged with murder. A police statement issued in Kingston on Monday said that the 35-year-old artist was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Investigators accuse the rapper, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, of conspiring with others to kill a 27-year-old promoter who was murdered earlier this year.
“The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c ‘Bossie’, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park,” the police release said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
Kartel’s defence attorney was reported to have said that his client was prepared to fight the charges. Kartel was initially arrested on Friday for marijuana possession.

Naive Rihanna had no idea the foul four-letter ‘C’ word was so offensive until her make-up artist had to beg her stop using it as a term of endearment.
The Umbrella singer insists locals in her native Barbados use the slang word for female genitalia frequently – and she was stunned when she learned exactly what it meant as her career took off.
See what the word is here.

The state-owned radio network in Guyana says a Jamaican dance-hall singer has been banned from the airwaves of the South American country because of obscene lyrics.
National Communications Network spokesman Martin Goolsarran says the music of Vybz Kartel was banned because it brings “nothing positive” to the entertainment industry. He said Wednesday that the decision came after a week of internal debate and said they are reviewing the lyrics of other musicians and could ban them as well.

She is known for her outrageous and revealing stage outfits. But with her latest fashion choice, Rihanna has ruffled more than a few feathers.
Last week as she attended a launch for her perfume at a department store on London’s Oxford Street, the 23-year-old star wore a turquoise top by Antonio Berardi made using a large number of ostrich feathers.
The move has enraged animal rights group PETA, who claim that the feathers used to create the garment could have been collected cruelly.
‘Rihanna is flaunting stolen property, in this case feathers possibly plucked right off their rightful owners’ backs,’ PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) spokeswoman Sandra Smiley told the Daily Star.
‘She has shown little regard for foxes, cows and reptiles, now she’s adding birds to the list of species exploited for her dubious looks.’

The colors of the Caribbean nations were on display in Brooklyn Monday as tens of thousands of revelers gyrated to the beat of the West Indian Day Parade.
Humid weather and an occasional thunder shower did little to muffle the steel drums, staccato whistles, horns and dancing feet of the most festive of New York festivities.
“I wait for this all year,” said Katty Antoine, 20, of East Orange, N.J.
Antoine had “Haiti” shaved into her hair, carried the Haitian flag in both hands and was dressed from head to toe in red, blue, white and green – the colors of her homeland.
“I love the Haitian float,” Antoine said. “It’s the best float in the whole country.”

It’s an old canard…”you must use local people in your ads.”
And sure, we’ve been criticised in one island for using actors and models from another; for example, Grenadians swear they can tell if we use Antiguan faces, and so on. The same goes for voices. We have come to assume it’s bad for the ad campaigns.
”Foreign TV ads and shows are hugely influential on consumer behaviour.”–Greg HoyosThe truth is, consumers don’t know what makes a good or bad ad; they only know what they like, and it’s often something superficial such as, “it made me laugh.” So, when asked to be experts, consumers often pick on peripheral things like the models’ faces. (By the way, liking or disliking an ad has very little impact on its effectiveness. But that’s a different issue.)
